Federal Constitutional Act on the Accession of Austria to the European Union

Auf Grund des Ergebnisses der Volksabstimmung wird kundgemacht:

On the basis of the result of the referendum the following shall be made known publicly:

Artikel I

Section I

Mit der Zustimmung des Bundesvolkes zu diesem Bundesverfassungsgesetz werden die bundesverfassungsgesetzlich zuständigen Organe ermächtigt, den Staatsvertrag über den Beitritt Österreichs zur Europäischen Union entsprechend dem am 12. April 1994 von der Beitrittskonferenz festgelegten Verhandlungsergebnis abzuschließen.

Based on the acceptance of this Federal Constitutional Act on the part of the people of the Federation, the authorities competent pursuant to the Federal Constitution shall be authorized to enter into the Treaty regarding the accession of Austria to the European Union in accordance with the result of the negotiations as set forth by the accession conference on 12th April 1994.

Artikel II

Section II

Der Staatsvertrag über den Beitritt Österreichs zur Europäischen Union darf nur mit Genehmigung des Nationalrates und der Zustimmung des Bundesrates hiezu abgeschlossen werden. Diese Beschlüsse bedürfen jeweils der Anwesenheit von mindestens der Hälfte der Mitglieder und einer Mehrheit von zwei Dritteln der abgegebenen Stimmen.

The Treaty on the Accession of Austria to the European Union shall only be entered into upon ratification by the National Council and the approval of the Federal Council. Each of the resolutions require the presence of at least half of the members and a majority of two thirds of the votes cast.

Artikel III

Section III

Mit der Vollziehung dieses Bundesverfassungsgesetzes ist die Bundesregierung betraut.

The Federal Government shall be in charge of implementation of the subject Federal Constitutional Act.
